Made a joke about pigs in stats lab this morning. Well, not so much a joke as a suggestion that in a binomial distribution exercise (where we had to compute the probability of there being more than 5 female pigs in a litter of 11 pigs) there might be a slight flaw. I was like

"So we're hoping there are no hermaphrodite pigs?"

The TA giggled, but the other students were totally silent.

I was just in a good mood because I made one of the cash register ladies at the pharmacy laugh! Then by the time I was on the sidewalk, I smiled in a random dude's direction! Argh.

Smiling at people on the street : a risky endeavour. Or, well, not so much "risky" as "with possibly random results".

It has been five whole days, and I haven't said anything about my yuletide gift. I mean, ok, I was busy, but also I didn't know what to say.

The request was for The Trip ; the fic is called The Long Way Home. In my opinion, it is best summarized by the end notes :

You should definitely write a thesis on the life and works of Rob Brydon, though. Steve would be so jealous.

This fic is transformative fiction of transformative fiction, it is funny and conflicted and clever, and someone wrote it just for meeeeeee. I don't know who wrote it, but I have actualfax feelings for them. This must be what falling in love through writing is like.
