I like this post! I realize that I've been super lucky in that I've managed to almost entirely stay in communities where people do share my niche interests, and whenever I go to hang out with, say, family of my age, I do suddenly experience that feeling of people looking at me like, "What?" and it just makes me shrink in my skin, I hate it.
